At West Side Cats we have a handsome hunk of a male cat! His name is Mickey and he is a Black/White feline who turned 6 years young on 9/1/2009. Mickey would make someone a wonderful Senior Companion! Mickey does get along with other cats here at the shelter but we don’t have any background as far as how he gets along with kids, dog or kids and dogs? He has a sister Minnie who I will be posting later this week. They could go together or separately. Their owner moved and couldn’t take them with them. Please come in and say hi to Mickey anytime Tuesday – Saturday from 2 to 6 P.M. You will be glad that you did!

At West Side Cats we have a very Regal character (feline) Tortie named Bernadette! She just turned 3 in January. She has a loud purr and she walks around like she is very important – which she is! She gets along with other male cats but NOT with females! Bernadette also gets along with all dogs. For some reason she does NOT get along with children – not sure why that is? Sometimes when cats come into the shelter we have very limited info on them and other times we have a lot. For Bernadette I didn’t have too much to go on.
I can tell you that Bernadette is extremely affectionate but does not like to be picked up and may not be a lap sitter? She likes to come on her terms to see people and get petted with attention. She does have a regal sense about her though the way she walks and carries her tail. Yes, she does have all 4 legs – in the photo she has her other front leg perfectly aligned with the other! I told you she was regal!
Please stop by West Side Cats when you get a chance Tuesday through Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. and Bernadette will do her regal model catwalk for you!! She can be so funny when she wants to be!!!!
Come introduce yourself to Butterscotch who hangs out with all her friends upstairs at West Side Cats! She turned 4 on April 3, 2015 so she is still young. She is very scared though. Butterscotch will take some patience and time for her to come around. Seems to me there has been some neglect for her in her background. Butterscotch is very active and doesn’t bother the other cats. Not sure how she is around dogs and children though. Come and visit our wonderful Felines who hang out upstairs and downstairs at West Side Cats! We are open Tuesday through Saturday from 2 P.M. until 6 P.M. Love, Butterscotch!!!!!
Here is the one and only Jamie Lee!!! She was born on 6/1/2011 so she is 4 1/2 years old. Jamie Lee is a beautiful Tortie! She is considered a Special Needs cat because she has a head tilt (small) due to an old ear infection. Jamie Lee is a very friendly girl but still timid and needs someone to work with her. She would make a wonderful addition to your family! Come visit Jamie Lee at West Side Cats and you just might take your “new best friend” home with you! Jamie Lee would be well worth the trip!
Okay everyone!! Here is Pumpkin to tell her story. Actually she is on the silent side and hasn’t told us much about herself. From what we know she was born on 4/15/15 so she is still young, very friendly with people, but with dogs that is unknown how Pumpkin would be? She does get along with other cats. She is a beautiful orange tabby! She would love to see you (maybe you can get more information out of her)! Stop by West Side Cats when you get the chance! Pumpkin may turn into a Cinderella and ride home in the coach with you!!!!!
Cry Baby’s owner could no longer care for her. Cry Baby is a Special Needs Cat that would make a wonderful Senior Companion! She is a Dilute Calico and her birthdate is 41/05 so she will be coming up on 11 years young! We are not sure how she gets along with kids or dogs but she gets along very well with other cats. She is very loving and loves to be petted! She would make someone very happy to have her! She is a wonderful cat! Cry Baby is all ready to go to her home! Cry Baby can be seen at Petco in Boardman!
Hi everyone – my name is Linda. I’ve got a story to tell you about what happened when I was tossed through the front door at West Side Cats? just the other day! West Side Cats doesn’t know much about me or the man who just carried me to the place, opened the door and literally threw me inside, slammed the door shut and ran away. He was last seen going up a side street near the shelter.
I was so scared! I don’t know why he did that! I have been really good I promise! Somehow my ears got chewed on by something? Well first thing Kimm Koocher? did was get me to the vet! That nice man checked me out and said I had been fixed and then made sure I got all my shots up to date. He said my birthday was 1/1/2010 so I’m not an old lady or something?!?!
Then I came back to the shelter and was put in the special needs/kitten room. I was scared so I hid behind this big running wheel that the kitties can run on but no one uses it. People talked to me and petted me and reassured me I would be ok. I am so confused?????
Then this lady named Pat came along yesterday with this weird looking thing around her neck but she seemed ok. She sat down beside me for awhile in back of that wheel and talked to me and petted me and told me I would be ok. She said that I would make a wonderful Senior Companion for the nicest person and she was mad that someone would do that to me.
Pat said to tell everyone that I am a beautiful Tiger Striped cat and will be fine after all is said and done. At least now I’m in a safe place and people and cats seem to like me here. Just give me a few days to get used to things here and then come see me and pet me and talk to me. I would just be so thankful to be in a great home with people who love me! That is my wish!
At West Side Cats, we have all kinds of cats – funny, silly, serious, mad, happy, social, not so social, etc. This little girl Lela came in to be with us as part of a litter that was in a foster situation. She got bigger and older and now she is ready to be adopted! She was born on 9/1/15 and is a Tiger striped Tabby! She has been fixed and had all her shots. She gets along well with other cats but we don’t know how she does with dogs or children. Stop by WSC and meet Lela! She is a wonderful cat! We are open from 2 – 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Lela would be well worth the trip to Youngstown, OH! We also have many other cats as well to meet! Guaranteed they will keep you amused!!!!!
Romeo – Romeo – is looking for his human Juliette (or any name will do)! He is a very rambunctious tabby cat who came into this world on 4/1/15 so he isn’t even a year old yet! As you can probably tell in those eyes of his that he is always looking for something to do! Romeo gets along well with other cats. I bet he would love some children to play with also. Not sure how Romeo is with dogs? Stop by West Side Cats anytime between 2 and 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and ask for Romeo! Tell him his “Juliette” is here!!!!!
Our wonderful Snickers is a beautiful brown tabby cat! She is about 1 1/2 years old being born 8/1/2014. Poor Snickers was abandoned at the Vet’s Office. We brought Snickers to West Side Cats on 4/20/2015 so she has been here for awhile. She was very frightened upon arrival and still is scared some. Snickers would have to gain your trust that she would not be “left” somewhere again. She does get along with other cats but we don’t know her history with children and dogs. She is Microchipped on 4/21/2015. If you would love to gain a “friend” for life, please come in to WSC and see Snickers! If you have patience and love, she is the one for you!
